ChopLocal is an online farmer’s market specifically for meat, serving more than 65 farms and butcher shops across the country. The company employs a small, remote team.
The ChopLocal marketing specialist will be responsible for developing and publishing content related to our vendors and products, with the goal of improving our search engine optimization, paid and organic social media reach, email marketing, and ecommerce conversions. Experience with digital advertising (Meta & Google ads) is a bonus.
The marketing specialist may also:
- complete done-for-you marketing services for our vendors, including website design, social media, graphic design and email marketing
- advise vendors on marketing techniques and help develop educational content for ChopLocal University (free and low-cost educational materials to help niche meat businesses with their meat marketing.)
The ideal applicant has a well-rounded background in graphic design, copy-writing, and social media management. A key part of the position will be organizing content from the 65 ChopLocal vendors and repurposing it effectively, so strong organizational skills are important. The candidate must be able to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage marketing budgets, ensuring optimal allocation of resources
- Manage ChopLocal’s social media channels, including Facebook and Instagram, focusing on increasing engagement and reach
- Manage ChopLocal’s email marketing (including customer journeys) using Mailchimp
- Create written and visual content (including short-form video) about ChopLocal vendors
- Create written and visual content about ChopLocal meat
- Manage influencer partnerships, sales & promotions
- Assist producer support specialist with ecommerce product descriptions and marketplace administration
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong writing and design skills (Adobe Creative Suite not necessary)
- Basic video editing skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of cooking and meat preparation required
- Experience with ecommerce preferred
This position is grant-funded through September 2027, with the opportunity for the successful marketing specialist to continue employment beyond that date.
